Second Weekend in Abu Dhabi

We started our second weekend with a dinner out on Thursday night. Craig had made reservations at Tamba, a modern, almost molecular gastronomy, take on Indian cuisine. We had the tasting menu, which was very nice. There were a few dishes that were more spicy than I prefer, but overall, we really enjoyed everything. Of course, the desserts were my favorite:

mumtaz - ice halwa, strawberry yoghurt parfait,
rose & pistachio reduction, strawberry confit

cruel intention - date rum pudding, apricot, sesame crumble,
salted butter scotch ice cream

On Friday, we went to a park on Yaz Island for a Thinkwell EMEA BBQ. The weather was wonderful! It was very pleasant to sit in the shade. And I got to try Kubb for the first time! That was in the sun, so it wasn't quite as nice, but the game was enjoyable. Now we've just got to find the time and weather to try it at the farm!

Amin set up two grills and he brought an incredible amount of food. He said that he plans 4 people per 1 kg of meat to grill. And then he brings one extra kg, just in case. There was so much wonderful food! This picture only shows part of what we had:

Unfortunately, even with the mild weather, my UPF shirt, sunscreen, and my sun hat, I managed to get just a little sunburn.

Craig had a work call that evening and I was exhausted from the sunburn, so we stayed in. I got some time to play Sims, which I always enjoy. I've actually gotten to play quite a bit, in part because I was sick when we arrived, but it does make it seem worth lugging that stupid laptop along with us.

We got a very slow start Saturday morning. Craig was catching up on work stuff, which spills into our weekend due to the time difference, and I played more Sims. By the time we were ready to "start" our day, we had only a couple hours before Craig needed to go into work. Yes, it's the weekend. No, he doesn't ever stop working. We only had time for a few errands and a trip to the grocery store.

Then he was off to work for a few hours and I had some more Sims time. He came home for a late dinner. I made taco bowls, which were only slightly different from what we would have at home. It was a very relaxed, laid-back weekend.
